Tip of the Week: Pets on the Street

Elliot Erwitt is a very famous photographer from Paris and I love his photographs of dogs on the street-if you’re not familiar with him please look him up and you’ll see what I mean. So since the weather is getting nice and people are out in force with their pets it might be a good time to try some dogs on the street photographs.

  • Go to a place where people take dogs
  • Find a spot with nice light and wait for the person and pet to walk through
  • You might want to ask permission if you’re very close
  • Ask some dogs to stops for a portrait
  • Try shooting "from the hip" (don’t look through the viewfinder).

Of course, a safety precaution please don’t approach dogs that you don’t know and get very close without talking to the owner- safety first. But try some this week and I will too!
